South2Roots Seed Sale (2022)

Over two years of research, gardening, and seed saving, Melissa began to explore heritage seeds and specific varieties. Looking at seed exchange in farming culture and understanding how saving seeds is a means to stay resilient in a changing climate.

Using the idea of exchange, Melissa set up a seed swap shop, exchanging tomatoes, radish seeds, and a rare breed of pea called Champion of England. This seed was practically extinct; however, that changed when Robert Woodbridge got in touch with Real Seeds with a family-saved seed from Lincolnshire in the 1940s.
